In life, the definition of risk is like that. Nobody every knows what is awaiting in their future around the corner. This is very scary if you stop and think about it. Sometime back we watched a person that was the image of health have a painful death from cancer. A silent kind of cancer. Never knew about it until the day of having a minor procedure that could not be performed. When the doctors got in there, there was not much to do.
And in these pandemic times, how many times have we heard or seeing people “vanish”, dying from one day to another? So many valuable lives lost in a senseless, hard to comprehend way.
So the thought comes to mind: live today for all it is worth. The present is a present. This is the life philosophy of one of our latest customers. Living paycheck by paycheck, enjoying life as it happens.
Then, one day, the job was gone. The toys followed, the spouse and kids followed and then the house and the health. Not a pretty picture. And what this person mentioned during our many, long conversations was that he had forgotten to see that chances are that you will live a long, hopefully healthy and happy life. And this comes with the responsibility of planning for skinny cows time. If you don’t plan for those times, skinny cows time will become an unbearable long period of time from which many do not ever recover.
We support our customers in the recovery process. We have provided planning tools and follow ups to many of our families. It is a big part of paying it forward. So if you should need this kind of support reach out. No judgments, just life.
