Today we are using our blog to refer to our real estate market as well as the state of our weather.
As many of you know, the real estate market in Texas has been hot for a long time. But like other things in life, what goes up eventually also goes down. Austin has been a poster child for our state. Opportunities have been popping like popcorn all over the area. It now takes an average of 60 to 90 days to sell a home, and in most cases the listing show a decrease in price to entice prospects to consider submitting an offer.
In Houston, the price of oil has been stable, but other industries have also laid off workers. We are still at 2.5 months of inventory, far away from the 6 month balance. But also far from the 1 month that we had 12 only a year ago. Opportunities can be found in specific pockets in the city as well as surrounding areas. So at In Good Faith we continue to help families move forward with win/win agreements that allow them financial freedom and secured housing at the same time.
As for our weather, at a risk of sounding “environmentalists”, we want to invite anyone that reads our posting to consider helping our environment in any way that suits their lifestyles. Recycling? Composting? Using refillable water bottles? Paper instead of plastic? It seems evident to the naked eye that our temperatures are getting more extreme and that weather events seem to be more aggressive as the years go by.
And this has a cost to all of us. In our real estate market we have seen steep increases on the cost of property insurance and flood insurance, to mention some. Building materials sky-rocket when the weather causes damages, which seems often lately. And buying near a coastal area? Huge risk at this point.
We invite everyone to think about what we are leaving to our future generations. Thanks for reading our posting.
